This is a unique Egyptian language dictionary, called a Glyphary to distinguish it from dictionaries that list entries in strictly alphabetical order. Rather, it list words based on the hieroglyphic signs that they contain, resulting in easier word look-up. It has been created to fill a need for a low cost, yet comprehensive, translation aid to hieroglyphs that is convenient to use. It contain about 8,000 entries (including a number of duplicates) with an emphasis on monumental inscriptions. This compares favorably to the 2,500 entries in the vocabulary in Alan Gardiner's "Egyptian Grammar", and the 5,000 plus entries in Raymond Faulkner's "Dictionary of Middle Egyptian". This volume's convenient size makes it ideal for everyday use anywhere one happens to be, a local museum or the monuments in Egypt. It is a “must have” for any serious student, Egyptologist or Egyptophile. This book is currently available in pre-publication form. It is in final review and will be available at a recommended list price of $14.95 (as of 01/10/2013 03:06 PST) in the spring of 2013. If you purchase this edition you will be able to upgrade to the final version, when it becomes available, for only $7.45 (as of 01/10/2013 03:06 PST), directly from Museum Tours. User feedback on this version is requested so that the final product will be the best possible.
